I have experienced this problem repeatedly. Sometimes we get drawings with the rotations all screwed up. I go through the set and orient the drawings properly. When using the drawing compare feature, I find that if the overlayed drawing needed to be rotated originally, when brought in to be overlayed over another drawing, it is imported in its original orientation rather than the corrected orientation. What's up with that?

The current release of drawing comparison only supports comparing drawings of the same size and rotation.

I've had the same issue multiple times and it drives me nuts. A workaround of a sort has been to open the drawing in Acrobat, then print it to a new pdf using CutePDF, orienting it as needed, being sure to set for correct sheet size. Afterwards, open it in Acrobat, if its correct, great, if not rotate using the "Document - Rotate Pages" pulldown, then save it again. Re-opening it should now have the correct orientation, ready to now include in your etakeoff set.
I found that CutePDF makes the rotated drawing only about double the original size, as opposed to using Acrobat to do the same thing it makes them TEN TIMES the original size.
I had to do this for about 150 drawings...
